Intoducing Margaret Gonzalez, Violin, Viola
Margaret Gonzalez, a musician and educator from Venezuela, is a product of El Sistema, thee world renown music education program for children.
With a vision of social change through music, she is passionate about spreading her experience around the world.
Most recently, Ms. Gonzalez worked as the coordinator and lead string teacher for Harmony Stockton; a program serving disadvantaged youth in Stockton, California.
In addition, she travels nationally and internationally to conduct workshops and exchange ideas with similar programs. Ms. Gonzalez works every summer with El Sistema Europe and will be working with Sinfonia por el Peru in 2015.
Trained as a violist, Ms. Gonzalez has performed with several professional chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras in the United States. She has also worked under Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Simon Rattle, and Giuseppe Sinopoli in the Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuela.
Ms. Gonzalez earned a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance with a minor in violin and piano at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia where she was a viola student of Doris Lederer.
