Arts Council Honors the Mendiolas

On March 28 the Vaca Arts Council gathers for its annual gala.
This year YACM has nominated Jeff and Jolene Mendiola to be honored as volunteers of the year.
The Vaca Arts Council is an arts umbrella organization that strives to promote local arts organizations. Its annual gala, called "Salute to the Stars", recogizes individuals and organizations who have made a significant contributionn to the arts over the past year.
"The Vaca Arts Council asks us to nominate individuals who have made the largest contribution to our organization," said Wanda Cook.
"Jeff and Jolene Mendiola are always here proviiding support. They participate in our Auxilary Meetings and provide support for our volunteer initiatives.
"They take responsibility to clean our facility saving us thousands of dollars a year. They are always ready and willing to respond to a variety of needs. For example, this year our stage electronic piano needed repair. Jeff stepped up and offered to see if he could figure out the problem. He did. He saved us having to replace an instrument that costs over $2,000.
"In addition to all of this, Jeff takes responsibility for overseeing our load-in and load-out for performances. This is a big job and tremendous service to the Conservatory.
"The Mendiolas are also exemplary Conservatory parents. They have twin boys. They have supported each giving them opportunities to explore their own potential.
"They were careful to identify what each needed to fulfill their potential. One son has become a classical pianist. The other son has become a rock guitarist. They were sensitive about each boys interest and potential."
Congratulations Jeff and Jolene Mendiola! And thank you for your service to our children!
