Live Music Mixer Successful Launch

On Monday, March 23 we hosted our first Live Music Mixer. This gathering of the community is intended to strengthen our ties with our neighbors and encourage appreciation for the arts.

Isaac Pastor-Chermack played selections from from Bach's six suites for cello.

Wanda Cook, our Artistic Director, introduced our Featured Soloists for the 2014-2015 season.

Three disciplines are represented in our Soloists; from the School of Voice: Madison Brown, from the School of Strings: Avalon Cook, and from the School of Piano: Benjamin Mendiola and Allie Knitter.

Approximately 15-20 guests participated in the inagueral event.

At the end of the hour, our Director of Development, Kevin Phillips, spoke about the value of arts education generally and the unique opportunity presented by music education in a Conservatory setting.

"A conservatory is a community of students and teachers," Mr. Phillips said. "Children learn their instrument with peers, some who are comig along behind them, others who are more advanced. This provides an opportunity for children to aspire to achieve what they see modeled by older children in their discipline. This feeds their motivation and provides a vision of what they can become."

The next Live Music Mixer is scheduled for April 20.
