Show Choir Summer Workshops

Coming July 14-17 and July 21-24, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

We are pleased to announce that Teaching Artist Shanda Darnouvong will be offering two Show Choir Intensive workshops this summer.

“Mrs. D”, as she is affectionately known by her students, has been studying theater since the age of six. She knows first-hand how inspiring participation in theater can be for children and youth.

This may be one reason why her popular Show Choir Music Matters classes at Nelda Mundy Elementary School fill so quickly.

“I am motivated to be a teacher of the arts because I want to preserve the art itself," she says. 'I cannot imagine my life today without the music and theater programs I was blessed to have in school.”

Mrs. D. is offering two programs this year.

The dates are July 14-17, and July 21-24. The time is 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM.

On July 14-17 she will be teaching The Rock and Roll Intensive. On July 21-24 the theme is Greatest Hits.

Students will learn to combine singing and dancing while working with a group. This four day workshop will allow participants to gain experience in a show choir.

The group combines choral singing with dance movements and formations. The session will focus on the expectations of any Show Choir. This includes professionalism, focus, one voice, singing techniques, diaphragm breathing, posture, expressive face and dance.

Students will learn fully choreographed numbers. At the end of the week they will perform for friends and family.

This is an excellent program for anyone who loves theater, and who loves to sing and dance. It is ideal for members of Solano Youth Theatre.

These intensives will strengthen the participant's overall performance level for any choir, show choir or theatre program.

The group will be limited to 15 students per class.

The cost is $130.00, with a $15.00 registration fee for new students and $5.00 registration for returning students.
