We are pleased to announce that Pacific Hardware has become a YACM partner.

Pacific Hardware is a long-standing, family-owned business in Vacaville. It has been in the McKenzie family for over 100 years.

Scott McKenzie operates the store with his cousin David McKenzie. Each have followed in the footsteps of their fathers who had operated the store since it moved to its currently location in Vacaville at 627 Merchant Street.

Earlier it had been located in Monticello, CA, a small town in Napa County. The population was required to relocate with the construction of Monticello Dam that resulted in the flooding of the valley and the creation of Lake Barryessa.

The goal of Pacific Hardware is to be a place where people can go and get the help they need while maintaining competitive prices. Pacific Hardware wants to be Vacaville’s hometown store.

"My children were involved in musical theater in High School," Scott said. "I used to take them to see performances by Solano Youth Theatre when they were children. We are happy to support the program!"

Pacific Hardware has committed to donated supplies to help with the building of the set for Solano Youth Theatre’s production of Disney's Peter Pan on May 29-30.

Solano Youth Theatre became a division of the Young Artists Conservatory of Music when Solano Community College came to this non-profit arts education organization with an appeal to take over the beloved program when the college could no longer fund the program.

"Creating professional quality performance opportunities for children is expensive," said Artistic Director Wanda Cook. "But it is important to allow children to see and experience the standard of excellence that can only be created working with professionals and staging events in professional venues like the Vacaville Performing Arts Theater. If they never experience a standard of excellence, it is hard to adopt excellence as a standard in their own lives."

YACM has also recieved a grant of $2,000 from On Stage Vacaville to help underwrite the cost of flight for characters Peter Pan and the Darling children.

YACM is grateful for partners like Pacific Hardware who care about kids and the quality of their community.
