Welcome Emma Turnbull: Vocal Instructor

Meet the newest member of the YACM Faculty: Emma Turnbull.
Ms. Turnbull studied Voice and Opera at the Royal Scottish Conservatory of Music and Drama, earning a BA in Music, and two Diplomas in Voice and Opera. She received operatic training at the University of British Columbia, where she was granted a Master of Arts in Music. Throughout her studies, she performed regularly with vocal ensembles, opera companies and premiering new compositions. While at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she was awarded the Scottish Composers’ prize for her dramatic vocal/theatre piece, Miss Donnithorne's Maggot by the world famous composer, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. With his supporting recommendation, she went on to perform the piece again at the St. Magnus and Cheltenham Festivals and the Teatro Regio in Turin, and Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville. Emma has taught voice for over twenty (20) years, including at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has broad experience in coaching professional opera singers, actors, teachers, public speakers and young students. She believes that it doesn't matter which style of music you sing,you spend time building your technique. This gives longevity, confidence, superior tone andthe ability to sing a varied repertoire to any young singer, hoping to develop their natural talent.
