Mother’s Day Weekend Family Musical, SYT Presents Disney’s Little Mermaid.

Solano Youth Theatre Spring Musical, Disney’s Little Mermaid is almost sold out! “It’s a great pre-Mother’s Day family activity” says Artistic Director, Wanda Cook. “Seats are still available for the Saturday Matinee for our “Warm on the Sand” theme.

Shows run May 6 – 7 at The Harbor Arts Center. Seats are selling fast so hurry to purchase your tickets for this upcoming family event.

With a cast of 35 children and youth, join us for the beloved story of a girl facing challenges and temptations as she follows her dreams. Solano Youth Theatre (SYT), a division of Young Artists Conservatory of Music (YACM) since 2010, is a community of people dedicated to instilling the disciplines of excellence in the lives of children through theatrical arts. The upcoming Spring Musical continues SYT’s legacy, as originally part of the Solano Community College Theatre program, with the highest standards of production and imagination.

The double casted lead role of Arial is played by eleven-year old Taylor Kostal and eleven-year old Alexis Andrews. Both girls study voice at Young Artists Conservatory of Music under the instruction of SYT musical director and voice teacher Casey Ellis. Miss Kostal and Miss Andrews were recently selected to perform as “Premier Performers” at YACM’s upcoming Black Tie Concert on June 5th, and are sure to deliver strong and lyrical performances in “The Little Mermaid”. Sebastian is performed by sixteen-year old Dixon resident Natalie Ballance who played the role of Peter Pan in the SYT Spring Musical “Peter Pan” in 2015. Natalie was the first actor to take flight over the stage of the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre. Scuttle and Flounder are performed by YACM trained vocal students twelve-year old Clarece Moritz and Jacqueline Dobrei. Prince Eric is portrayed by Emily Covarrubias and Melanie Fletcher, both fifteen-years old. Catie Whittet (14) who performed the heroine role of Bell in SYT’s performance of “Beauty and the Beast” in 2014 will be our villain and portray Ursala. Catie has studied voice with YACM for 4 years and has been selected to represent YACM as a “Premier Performer” in our upcoming Black Tie Concert on June 5th.

Opening Night (Friday May 6) s sold out, and is preceded by our “Devotin’ to Floatin’” Pre-performance Gala, hosted by SYT parent and volunteer Victoria Bartels. The “Devotin to Floatin” Gala boasts a watery theme, accompanied by summer surf music, sea-faring cuisine, wine service, special guest live music from YACM Black Tie Concert Premier Performers, and special awards and recognition by the Artistic Director. Entrance to the gala is free and an opportunity to donate in support of SYT will be provided.

Limited seats are still available, as tickets last, for our pre-Mother’s Day “Warm on the Sand” Saturday Matinee. With an hour and a half run time, this show is a great Saturday afternoon activity for the family. Put on your tropical dress, Hawaiian shirt, flip flops, or pull out that mermaid costume and lets limbo with mom, grandma and the kids.
