Take Lessons from Tabitha - Dr. Lewis empowers "young artists".

Young Artists Conservatory of Music is proud to announce our newest faculty member, Tabitha Lewis. This month Ms. Lewis is defending her doctoral dissertation in Vocal Performance and Literature with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and joining our team of experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Artists.

YACM serves our community by bringing highly skilled and experienced music educators to the children of Solano County. The skill and understanding of how a musician is developed is at the heart of our mission to nurture creativity, self-confidence, and resilience through music education.

Soprano and violinist Tabitha Lewis is a recent transplant to California. She formerly served as Lecturer of Voice and Theory at Georgia College and State University. She holds a Doctor of Music and a Master of Music from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music from Wheaton College. Favorite opera roles include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Lily in The Secret Garden, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. Her love of Gilbert and Sullivan led her to make her directorial debut in 2017 with the Bloomington University Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of Patience. Also in 2017, she was honored to be a Marc and Eva Stern Fellow at SongFest in Los Angeles, where she performed the world premiere of Juliana Hall’s song cycle When the South Wind Sings (the topic of her doctoral dissertation). She enjoys singing and teaching a variety of styles, including classical art songs, musical theater, and jazz.

Soon to be Dr. Lewis, Tabitha offers vocal training to vocal students 14 years of age and older on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Young Artists Conservatory of Music in Vacaville.

"Tabitha is a Certified Suzuki Violin Instructor, and I am also quite excited to be expanding our string department by adding our first Suzuki Violin New Learners Class for 7 - 9 year olds under her leadership", says Wanda Cook, Artistic Director.

You can sign up for lessons with Tabitha Lewis at emailing YACM at admissions@youngaristsconservatory.org or calling between 9:00 - 1:00 pm (707) 451-7200.
